What’s the difference between Wink and Qualtrics?
Both can track brand awareness and consideration against competitors over time, with dashboards for the team. Qualtrics is a research platform: you can build brand tracking yourself, start from its pre-built Brand Tracking Research Service, or bring in Qualtrics Research Services. Wink builds and runs one monthly tracker for one category in one country, at a published price. What they have in common:
- Competitor benchmarking
- Qualtrics's brand tracking service benchmarks "your brand's performance relative to your competitors". Wink tracks your brand against up to five.
- A ready-made questionnaire
- Qualtrics's Marketplace tracker uses an expert-built survey template. Wink's survey has twelve short sections and takes about eight minutes.
- Uncertainty is shown
- Qualtrics dashboards can run significance tests, and its support docs recommend 95% confidence. Wink puts a margin of error on every number.
How does pricing compare?
Qualtrics publishes one self-serve price for research: Strategic Research at $420 a month ($5 040 billed annually), with 1 000 responses shared across all users and 20+ pre-built solutions, on its buy-online page (checked 18 October 2026). Enterprise plans are by quote, and its pricing page lists no figures: “You only pay for what you plan to use.”
Respondents cost extra unless you survey your own contacts. Qualtrics’s Brand Tracking Research Service lets you “purchase respondents directly in Qualtrics”, requires a Research Core 3 licence, and says a typical study needs 300 completes.
Wink publishes one monthly price per tracker that includes the respondents, on the pricing page.
Who builds and runs the tracker?
It depends which Qualtrics route you take. On self-serve your team builds and fields the survey. For brand experience (BX) programmes, Qualtrics’s support documentation says they “are typically conducted by the Qualtrics Implementations team or a third-party implementations partner”.
Wink builds the questionnaire and translations, agrees quotas and weighting, and pilots it, then adds 200 new category buyers every month. Your part is a kickoff call, a competitor list and sign-off on the category definition.
Is Wink an alternative to Qualtrics in South Africa?
Yes, for brand tracking. Qualtrics’s online sample page offers “200+ global markets” through panels or synthetic respondents but publishes no country list, so ask it to confirm South African sample and its cost. Wink’s South African tracker surveys category buyers with quotas by age, gender and province, in English and other South African languages, with prices in rand.
